He is former Chairman of shipping company Starlite Ferries and headed various companies engaged in logistics and distribution, manning and crewing and maritime engineering. Senator **Win Gatchalian** was elected to the Philippine Senate in 2016. He was first elected to public office as a member of Congress for Valenzuela in 2001 to 2004. Win also served as mayor of Valenzuela for three consecutive terms from 2004 to 2013.
