Alastair
Hughes is the Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer of Jones Lang
LaSalle, the region’s leading commercial real estate services firm with
over 19,000 employees operating in 13 countries. As CEO, he has overall
responsibility for guiding Jones Lang LaSalle’s strategic direction and
growth in the region.
Experience
Alastair
joined Jones Lang Wootton as a graduate trainee in London in 1988. He
worked in Property Management and Fund Management and became a
qualified Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
(ARICS) in 1991. He then specialized in Capital Markets from 1991 –
2000, advising institutional, property companies and private investors
on the sale and acquisition of commercial property assets in the UK.
In 2000, Alastair became Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s UK
business, responsible for strategy and performance across all business
lines.
In 2005, he was promoted to be CEO of the firm’s EMEA business, where
he consolidated the firm’s strong market position in the mature Western
European markets while rapidly growing Jones Lang LaSalle’s presence in
the emerging markets of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
In 2009, Alastair was appointed CEO of the Asia Pacific business, based
in Singapore. Despite the economic downturn in 2009, he has continued
to grow the firm’s revenue and profit and increased its market share in
the region. Under his leadership, the business has grown its client
base, increased its portfolio under management from 534 million sq ft
to 780 million sq ft, secured an impressive list of landmark wins such
as closing the biggest leasing and investment deals in key markets like
Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore, as well as
winning several key corporate mandates including Telstra, JP Morgan,
ANZ Banking Group and Standard Chartered Bank.
